The product has numerous glaze cracks. These cracks are not noticeable from a distance of 2 meters. The item you ordered is entirely handcrafted Iznik ceramic. As you know, the surface of ceramics is covered with glaze.
The glaze on ceramics may crack, which is natural for Iznik tiles. Even the tiles inside the historic Selimiye Mosque have developed glaze cracks. A glaze crack is definitely not a defect.
SHAHDAR; (Cracks in the Tile)
It is an Ottoman term that means branching. In ceramic works, the cracks on the glaze (glass melt) caused by moisture and humidity are called SHAHDAR. Every tile can eventually develop SHAHDAR. Some do it within a few days, and others after centuries. This is like the wrinkles we get as humans after aging. The artists of the Ottoman period, who gave different meanings to every motif and color they applied on the tiles, also associated SHAHDAR with the saying, "Just as the skin wrinkles as a person ages, the tile also SHAHDARS."
