The product has many glaze cracks. When hung on the wall, these cracks are not noticeable from a distance of 2 meters. The product you ordered is completely handmade Iznik tile. As you may know, tiles are covered with a glaze.

The glaze on the tiles may crack, and this is natural for Iznik tiles. Glaze cracks have also appeared on the tiles inside the historic Selimiye Mosque. Glaze cracks are NOT defects.

SHAHDAR; (Cracks on the Tile)

It is an Ottoman term meaning branched or twig-like. In ceramic works, cracks on the glaze (glass melt) caused by humidity and moisture are called SHAHDAR. Every tile can eventually develop Shahdar. Some may form in a few days, while others may take centuries. This is like the wrinkles that appear on our skin as we age. Ottoman artists, who imbued every motif and color they used on tiles with different meanings, also attributed a saying to SHAHDAR: “Just as a person’s skin wrinkles as they age, a tile also becomes Shahdar.”

Design Information; Has Bahçe Motif (Special Garden Motif):

The Has Bahçe motif in Iznik tiles symbolizes beauty, tranquility, and paradise. The "Has Bahçe" (Special Garden) is a popular theme in Islamic art, often depicted as an oasis.

In Iznik tiles, the Has Bahçe motif is generally depicted in a stylized manner. Flowers and trees are often simplified, and the colors are typically bright and vibrant. The special garden motif is often used together with other motifs such as tulip, rose, and carnation. These flowers are also associated with beauty, peace, and paradise.

The Has Bahçe motif is a popular choice for Iznik tiles due to its beauty and meaningfulness. It reminds us of the importance of beauty, peace, and paradise in life, and also serves as a reminder of the shared heritage of the Islamic world.

The Has Bahçe is typically depicted as an area surrounded by walls, symbolizing privacy and security.

The garden is typically filled with flowers that represent beauty, abundance, and fertility.

Iznik tiles, which have been produced in Turkey for centuries, are beautiful and unique art forms. The Has Bahçe motif, one of the most used motifs in Iznik tiles, reminds us of the importance of beauty, tranquility, and paradise in life.
