The product has many glaze cracks. When hung on the wall, these cracks are not noticeable from a distance of 2 meters. The product you ordered is entirely handmade Iznik ceramics. As you know, ceramics are coated with glaze.
The glaze on ceramics can crack, and this is natural for Iznik ceramics. Even the Iznik tiles inside the historic Selimiye Mosque have glaze cracks. A glaze crack is not a defect.
SHAHDAR; (Cracks in Ceramics)
"Şahdar" is an Ottoman Turkish word meaning branched or twig-like. In ceramic works, cracks in the glaze (glass melt) caused by humidity and moisture are called Şahdar. Every ceramic can develop Şahdar eventually. Some may form in a few days, while others take centuries. This is similar to the wrinkles we humans get as we age. Ottoman artists, who attributed different meanings to each motif and color they worked on ceramics, also referred to Şahdar as “Just as a human's skin wrinkles as they age, the ceramic also 'Şahdars'."
