Attention:

The product has several cracks in the glaze. When hung on the wall, these cracks are not noticeable from a distance of 2 meters. The product you ordered is completely handmade Iznik tile. As you may know, tiles are coated with glaze. The glaze on the tiles may crack, which is a natural occurrence for Iznik tiles. Even the tiles inside the historic Selimiye Mosque have developed cracks in the glaze. Glaze cracks are NOT defects.

ŞAHDAR; (Cracks in the Tile)

This is an Ottoman term meaning "branching" or "with branches." In ceramic works, the cracks on the glaze (the vitreous glass-like coating) caused by humidity and dampness are referred to as ŞAHDAR. Every tile may develop ŞAHDAR at some point. Some tiles may show cracks in a few days, while others may take centuries. This is similar to the wrinkles humans develop as they age. Ottoman artists, who assigned various meanings to each motif and color in tile art, referred to ŞAHDAR as, "Just as the skin wrinkles with age, so too does the tile develop cracks over time."
